Jacob S. Blackford

Jacob Blackford is an Intellectual Property Attorney in the Biotechnology & Chemical Practice Group. Jacob earned a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Biology from the University of Wisconsin La Crosse. Jacob then went on to work in the regulatory compliance departments of multiple medical device manufacturers in Minneapolis, MN.

Jacob graduated from Drake University Law School with High Honors and received certificates in Intellectual Property Law and Business Law. While in law school, Jacob had a Federal Judicial Externship with Judge Stephen H. Locher of the Southern District of Iowa and was a sworn student attorney as a staff member of the Drake Legal Clinic’s Entrepreneurial & Transactional Clinic. Jacob served as an Articles Editor on the Editorial Board of the Drake Law Review, was President of the Intellectual Property Law Society and captain of the Drake Law Intellectual Property Moot Court team.

Jacob’s patent practice primarily relates to the preparation and prosecution of biotechnology, chemical, and medical device patents. Jacob’s litigation practice includes both trademark and patent work. Additionally, Jacob provides counsel regarding Agritech regulatory guidance.
