MVS to participate in biotech CLE presentationAugust 13, 2004 Biotech conference reviews at legal landscapeA new learning opportunity for attorneys has been added to this year’s Growing Biotechnology in Iowa conference. Set for Sept. 23 at the West Des Moines Marriott, Growing Biotechnology in Iowa features national industry speakers specializing in the biotechnology industry, from biobased products, advanced foods, pharmaceuticals, animal science to biosecurity. ‘The Legal Landscape of Biotechnology in Iowa’ will break-off from the main conference for a series of session dealing with intellectual property in the afternoon Several local attorneys who practice primarily in intellectual property law will present four hours of CLE credit with a specific focus on biotechnology patent protection. Course titles and presenters for ‘The Legal Landscape of Biotechnology in Iowa’ include: ’30 Years of Biotechnology Patent Law’ with Heidi Nebel of McKee Voorhees & Sease, ‘PPA, PVPA, Utility? Understanding the Differences’ with Richard Nakashima of Faegre Benson, ‘IP Policies for Biotech Companies’ with Pat Sweeney and ‘Protecting Innovation from the Inside’ with Tom Slaughter of Faegre & Benson, and Helen Adams and Janet Huston of Dickinson Law Firm. The CLE courses will be held in the afternoon, separate from the main conference. Networking opportunities will be held concurrently during the morning session.
