MVS Supports World IP DayApril 27, 2020

Des Moines, Iowa, April 27, 2020 — McKee, Voorhees & Sease, PLC was proud to support World Intellectual Property Day on April 26, 2020. This day celebrates the role intellectual property rights play in encouraging innovation and creativity and the many inspiring inventors and creators around the world who are working to provide for a better tomorrow.

This year’s World IP Day focused on the efforts to create a green and sustainable future. This includes looking at how the patent system fosters innovation and the development and diffusion of eco-friendly technologies. They consider how trademarks and other identifiers support the emergence and growth of businesses built on principles of environmental sustainability, enabling them to offer a broader range of eco-friendly products and services. They see how rights, such as geographical indications are encouraging more sustainable natural resource use and how plant-breeding rights are promoting the development of more resilient crops in support of global food security. Finally, they observe how creators, who through the copyright system can earn a living from their work, can play a key role in creating a vision of a green future and its untold benefits.

“MVS supports the efforts of World IP Day and we congratulate our clients and colleagues on all that they do with intellectual property and for understanding the important role it plays in encouraging and supporting invention and innovation” said Heidi S. Nebel, Managing Member of MVS. “From the seminal U.S Supreme Court decision Pioneer v. J.E.M. Ag Supply, 534 U.S. 124 in 2001, we have helped our clients obtain over 4,720 patents in the last 20 years.”
