Charles P. Romano, Ph.D. Joins McKee, Voorhees & Sease, PLCJanuary 4, 2021

MVS is excited to announce that Charles P. Romano, Ph.D. has joined MVS as a Senior Patent Agent. Charley, who is a registered patent agent, will bring over 30 years of biotech industry experience and doctorate in biochemistry to serve clients in the biotech industry and university sectors.

“Charley has worked for Monsanto and in the legal industry and brings over 15 years of patent prosecution experience,” said Heidi S. Nebel, Managing Member of MVS. “He also brings with him an exciting practice in the area of plant molecular biology that will build upon the world-renowned reputation we have in plant sciences. Charley is well known in the biotech community and often speaks on patent topics.”

Charley’s practice will focus on preparation and prosecution of U.S. and foreign patent applications in biotech, patentability analyses and evaluation of third-party technology. He has held senior research positions for both large and small biotech companies, where he led teams and collaborations directed to the discovery and commercialization of agbiotech and pharmaceutical products. A named inventor on 22 issued U.S. Patents, Charley made key contributions to the Monsanto YieldGard® Rootworm and Genuity™ VT Double PRO™ lepidopteran insect control products.

Charley earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from the University of Massachusetts and he received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Harvard University.
