R. Scott Johnson Earns Certified Licensing Professional (CLP) Designation

R. Scott Johnson, a member with McKee, Voorhees & Sease (MVS), has earned the Certified Licensing Professional (CLP) credential. Scott has been doing licensing work for a number of years and now joins a growing group of IP professionals who have demonstrated they are dedicated to higher standards of practice in the licensing industry. Scott is currently one of only three Certified Licensing Professionals in the state. To become a Certified Licensing Professional, Scott met strict requirements in three areas:

  1. Education (Scott has an undergraduate degree in aerospace engineering in addition to his law degree);
  2. Experience (at least three years of professional-level experience involving the development, use, transfer, marketing, and/or management of IP within the past eight years);
  3. and Knowledge (Scott passed the three-hour CLP examination on subject areas including strategy, opportunity assessment, IP protection, valuation, marketing, agreement drafting and development, negotiation and agreement management).

Scott is head of the firm's licensing practice group and is also part of the firm's management team. In addition to licensing work, Scott litigates intellectual property matters in federal and state courts. He is also a member of the firm's mechanical / electrical practice group and helps file and obtain patent and trademark protection for clients in a variety of industries.
