Inventive artists rewarded, on displayNovember 1, 2005

Three drawings by young, local inventive artists have been selected as winners in the My Invention Drawing Contest sponsored by McKee, Voorhees & Sease. Grace Swihart of Prole, Iowa, won in the 5 to 8-year-old category. Her invention called ‘Rainbow Time’ incorporated a rainbow as a colorful alarm clock. Maya Hennessey of Des Moines, won in the 9 to11-year-old category with ‘Car that Works on Carbonated Water’. Emily Alexander of Des Moines won in the 12 to 14-year-old category with ‘The Pickle Vator’, a device that retrieves pickles without a mess. The three winners were awarded yearlong family memberships to the Science Center of Iowa. Each drawing will be featured in the 2005 holiday card for the law firm of McKee, Voorhees & Sease. Additionally, all entries will be on display at the Science Center of Iowa which will host a daylong special event on Saturday, Nov. 12. ‘Imagination, Invention and Discovery!’ will be a fun, interactive day of learning about the process of inventing.
