We have been practicing intellectual property law for a long time. Talbert Dick, one of Iowa's pioneer patent lawyers, established our firm in the 1920s. Born in 1898, he was a veteran of WWI who did post-graduate law study at Harvard University and received a master's degree in Patent Law (L.L.M.) from National University in Washington, D.C. As the legend goes, Talbert Dick decided to start his patent practice in Des Moines because he believed it would become a city of commerce as it was already a railroad center.

During its 80 years, the firm has continued its growth from a solo practice to a group of IP specialists.

Bruce McKee joined the firm in 1962 and his partners, Mike Voorhees and Ed Sease, arrived in the early '1970s. We continue to add quality legal and technical minds to the firm, and we are proud to offer a wide array of expertise to our clients.

While many things have changed since Talbert Dick's founding days, one thing has not. Our firm continues its dedication to the practice of intellectual property law and to the service of our clients as a faithful advocate and strategic partner. That will never change at MVS.
